Why JNPT clearances get delayed
Nhava Sheva moves a huge volume of containers through several terminals and dozens of CFSs. A clearance there needs the shipping line, terminal, CFS, customs and the transporter to line up. The usual causes of delay are:
- Documents that don't match each other, or the IGM
- Delivery order not ready because freight or detention charges are unpaid
- Classification or valuation queries raised at assessment
- Examination slots at the CFS
- Free days running out and detention or ground rent starting
We start checking the documents while the vessel is still at sea, so most of these are dealt with before the container is discharged.
FCL and LCL
FCL import: we file the Bill of Entry, get the delivery order, follow the container to the CFS or arrange direct port delivery where it applies, then move it to your site.
LCL import: your cargo is de-stuffed at the consolidator's CFS. We clear your portion and arrange a truck for delivery.
Exports: factory stuffing or CFS stuffing, Shipping Bill, examination, and gate-in before the vessel cut-off.
